So you want to start working out, but you have been putting it off for one reason or another.  Whether you’re in shape our not, most people struggle with finding motivation to workout consistently. The main reason is because they reach a point where their fitness has completely plateaued. Not to worry, the following three tips will help you get moving today!

Tip #1: Finding your Why?

The first key to finding motivation to exercise is finding your “Why?” For example, you may have a young child who you would like to stay healthy for so you can play catch with once he or she is old enough to throw a baseball. Or you may not like the embarrassed feeling you get when looking at pictures of yourself. Whatever your “Why” may be, being able to identify it will help kick start your workout motivation.

Tip #2: Schedule Your Workout:

Make it a part of your daily routine to create a time of the day where nothing else will conflict with you working out. Book this time with yourself in your schedule just like you would book an important meeting at your work place. As you begin your workout, have a set time you will work out for. You will find that when you have a set time limit, you become more efficient. “Set the clock then go!” This will keep you motivated as you start your productive timely workout.

Tip #3: Daily Progressions:

Progressing your exercises will help maintain your motivation. For example, if you start with 10 minutes walking on the treadmill on day one, by day 10 you will want to progress to running on a 3% incline for 10 minutes. Progressing from a walk, to a faster pace walk, to a jog, then eventually a run will be the order in how you progress. Daily progressions like this will allow you to see huge strength increases in your daily routine and have your motivation sky high as you look forward to what new barrier you can exceed on your next workout day.
